Then down to to the Windows section of the park and a stroll through the beautiful landscape.īy the time we were done for the day, the heat had sapped all our energy and we were glad for the next few hours drive ahead of us as we headed off to Colorado and the last park on our adventure, Rocky Mountain NP. We didn’t have time for the Delicate Arch, so instead opted for the shorter viewpoint trail, of course stopping along the way at all the view points. Then over to Tapestry, Broken & Sand Dune arches. In the morning we headed out to hike to some of the arches close by, Navajo, Partition, Landscape, Pine Tree & Tunnel. After the moon headed out of sight we had the perfect spot for night sky viewing.

Even at night it was warm out, with a beautiful, almost full moon. We arrived as the sun was edging to the western horizon and set up camp at Devils Garden campground. I had visited Arches a few years prior just for an afternoon, and it was such a beautiful place that coming back was a must on my list. *Note: The camera didn’t work again most of the way through RMNP. We were late enough in the day that we were able to get parking no problem. Then down to Bear Lake and Nymph Lake, both beautiful, and relatively easy hikes. oh so Beautiful!Īt the Alpine Visitor Center Scott & Donnica headed off to the Alpine Ridge Trail, this was the one trail in all the parks we had visited, and all the hikes we had done, where I felt the altitude, so sat out that trail. We headed into the park early in the day and took off for a chance to spot Elk & Moose! We were happy to find both! I promise you, if we had shivered that much any of our other nights camping, we would not have continued the camping adventures! Having spent the prior night in the warmth of Arches NP, the cold of Granby had us shivering all night long. Some of the roads were a surprise, and we prayed long and hard that the GPS wouldn’t loose signal, because we were on dirt & gravel roads half the time! But so worth it! Amazingly beautiful. Every bend in the road was another brilliantly beautiful view. We did not even have a clue what kind of drive we were in for. Since we were coming from Arches NP, we decided to go off the beaten path and hit the west side of the Rockies. The last stop on our epic 17 day roadtrip.
